The new culinary cultural tour organized by the Turkish Cultural Foundation’s Culinary Arts Center will take place on February 26-28, 2016 and feature the towns of İzmir and Bergama, Turkey, and it is timed to coincide with the pine nut harvest in this region’s historical pine forests.  Our guide will be Nedim Atilla, journalist and food culture researcher who is also the author of the first book written about pine nuts.

The vast pine forests located in Kozak were known to be the heritage of  Zeus, and the nuts coming from those trees are known to be the most delicious and fragrant pine nuts of the world. The participants will get to spend some time in the Kozak region that is identified with these delicious nuts and witness their harvest. Pine nuts are used in almost all regions of Anatolia in various dishes. They are high in protein, minerals and vitamins. Antique city of Pergamon, a UNESCO World Heritage site located in town of Bergama in İzmir, is also on the program of places that will be visited during the tour.
